SALUTING THEIR SERVICE GRANTS OPEN

31 March 2025

The Albanese Government is making $3.5 million available to honour the service and sacrifice of Australia’s veterans through the first round of the 2025-26 Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.

Ex-service and community organisations can apply for funding to support the delivery of locally and nationally significant projects that commemorate Australia’s proud military history, and ensure veterans’ legacy of heroism and service is never forgotten.

Grants will be available across two categories – Community Grants (up to $10,000) and Major Grants (between $10,001 and $150,000).

Previous grant recipients in Blair include a wide variety of commemorative projects, including documentary films on local units, a commemorative plinth project at the Ipswich Memorial Gardens and other physical memorials, and books on local veterans.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said that Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area had a proud history of military service that was worth honouring.

“To that end, the Saluting their Service program plays a key role in ensuring that the ongoing service and sacrifices made by Australian service people and their families is recognised and remembered,” Mr Neumann said.

“As time marches on, it’s more important than ever that we safeguard the legacy of the veterans and families who answered the call to serve when our nation needed them.

“With this year marking several significant anniversaries in Australia’s military history, including the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific Day and the 110th anniversary of Australia’s Gallipoli Campaign, there’s no better time to apply for funding.

“I encourage all local ex-service organisations and community groups, and schools to consider applying for these grants.”
