FOURTH COVID JAB AVAILABLE

08 July 2022

Local residents are encouraged to get their fourth COVID jab, in the face of a growing third Omicron wave.

Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann said the Albanese Government has announced that a further 7.4 million people are eligible for a second booster or fourth vaccine shot.

“We are in the early stages of a third Omicron wave and our Government is absolutely committed to making sure as many people as possible are protected with the vaccine,” Mr Neumann said.

“Vaccination will help protect against severe disease, while reducing the burden on our hospitals and health care system.

“Medical experts tell us that everyone over the age of 50 years should get the fourth COVID vaccine, while people aged from 30 to 49 years should consider it as well.

“My message to everyone living in Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area aged 50 and over is to make sure you have the greatest protection against COVID-19 by having a fourth dose as soon as possible.

“People aged 30 to 49 who want that extra protection can choose to get a fourth dose.

“The vaccine experts on the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation have recommended it – and the Government has accepted this advice.

“The good news is that the Albanese Government has ensured there are enough free vaccines for everyone and it has never been easier, with most health clinics and pharmacies offering free vaccinations.”
